Ending Explained
As The Maze Runner reaches its climax, the group of teens, led by Thomas, finally manages to uncover the secret behind the maze’s design and the deadly creatures that guard it. After a series of perilous confrontations and the loss of several friends, Thomas and a small group of survivors successfully navigate the maze’s final obstacles, discovering an exit that leads them into a hidden laboratory. There, they learn that their ordeal was part of a larger experiment orchestrated by a mysterious organization known as WCKD, which is studying their responses to extreme stress. The survivors are left reeling from the revelation that their memories were deliberately erased and that their escape was only the first phase of a much larger plan. The film ends with the group being rescued by apparent allies, but a final scene reveals that their rescue may not be as straightforward as it seems, setting the stage for further challenges and hinting that their struggle for freedom is far from over.
