Main Plot

"Saw 3D," directed by Kevin Greutert, follows the aftermath of the previous films in the series, focusing on the survivors of Jigsaw's deadly traps. The story centers on Bobby Dagen, a self-help guru who claims to have survived one of Jigsaw's games, but whose authenticity is questionable. As Bobby's deception is exposed, he is thrust into a series of brutal tests designed to reveal the truth and test his will to survive. Meanwhile, Detective Hoffman, Jigsaw's apprentice, continues his own deadly agenda while evading the authorities. The film intertwines various subplots, including the efforts of Jigsaw's widow, Jill Tuck, to bring Hoffman to justice. The narrative builds towards a climactic confrontation, exploring themes of survival, deception, and retribution.

Characters

  • Tobin Bell plays John Kramer, also known as Jigsaw, who orchestrates deadly games to test his victims' will to live, even after his death.
  • Costas Mandylor plays Mark Hoffman, a detective who continues Jigsaw's legacy, setting deadly traps while evading capture by the authorities.
  • Betsy Russell plays Jill Tuck, Jigsaw's ex-wife, who attempts to stop his successor, Mark Hoffman, and ultimately becomes a key player in the series' ongoing conflict.

Ending Explained

In the conclusion of 'Saw 3D,' directed by Kevin Greutert, the narrative reaches a climactic resolution. Detective Mark Hoffman, who has been revealed as Jigsaw's apprentice, attempts to eliminate Jill Tuck, Jigsaw's ex-wife, to tie up loose ends. Hoffman successfully kills Jill using the iconic reverse bear trap, a device previously used by Jigsaw. However, his victory is short-lived. Hoffman is ambushed by three masked figures, led by Dr. Lawrence Gordon, a survivor from the first 'Saw' film. It is revealed that Dr. Gordon has been another secret apprentice of Jigsaw, tasked with ensuring Jigsaw's legacy continues and that Hoffman is dealt with if he ever went rogue. Dr. Gordon and his accomplices capture Hoffman and chain him in the same bathroom where Dr. Gordon was once trapped. In a final act of poetic justice, Dr. Gordon throws away the hacksaw, leaving Hoffman to face a grim fate, effectively ending Hoffman's reign of terror and bringing closure to Jigsaw's twisted game. The film concludes with the implication that Jigsaw's legacy will persist through Dr. Gordon.
